22nd flr., Strata 2000 Bldg., Ortigas, Pasig City.

Lifted 22 floors from the ground, I signed my first log and attended the first of the 150 hours I would spend for my TV internship at ZOE-TV 11.

It was exactly 8:00 in the morning when I first signed my log and I feel the excitement running through my veins. Event though it was not my dream TV station to work for, what matters for me is that I get to learn new things and be introduced into the vast world of television.

I was assigned at the traffic department of the station, headed by Ms. Maritess Alvarez- Reyes or Ma’am Tess as I would prefer to call her. The traffic department takes care of programming, particularly the gaps and the total running time of programs. The department is also responsible in scheduling upcoming programs for the upcoming days or weeks.

The first task assigned to me was to watch and encode the gaps and total running time for GOOD TV programs which is scheduled for airing the next week. Well it was not a difficult job to do, because I was oriented carefully by my boss, but still I have to ask questions to ensure that everything I do is on the right track.

A feel great after I finished the task assigned to me, and I was very eager to come tomorrow for another learning experience.

LAST DAY

Today was my last day of internship. Although It was a bit sad, I was happy because I get to meet new friends, as I would call my boss and the other staff I met during my internship period, which lasted for 151 hours.

I did learn a lot of things especially from the Traffic Department. Thanks to my great and kind-hearted boss, Ma’am Tess Alvarez Reyes for all the work that she entrusted to me. I’m glad that she trusted me to handle such things.

I would treasure this once in lifetime experience, and expect more after I finished graduation. 

GOOD TV

Today I was assigned to check errors for the Good TV cd’s. Because apparently the client from Good TV called up my boss and said that some part was missing in the programs. This could affect the contract and I was on the green light to locate the “bad” cd’s.

Using the i5 series Asus Laptop, I play back every cd from Good TV. First on the list was the cd’s for tomorrow’s airing followed by the next week and so on. The complaints of the client was true., and yes there was some cd’s that doesn’t contain the “for donation” information. I listed them down, and my boss will take the next step in the process.

I’m glad that I was able to do some part for the good of the station.

Connie Reyes

Today is a Connie Reyes day. haha. Well, today I was assigned to play the Connie Reyes Series tapes and burn them to the cd’s. But I was not alone doing that whole stuff, at my back was kuya Rey, the main man for that job. He was there to monitor and assist me in doing that activity for the whole day I think. Well that was a heck of a job. A tribute to Connie Reyes.

It was like time travelling doing that activity, because I get to watch all the dramas during those days, when I was still a kid with my mom watching the shows that made them cry or angry.

What a day for me. Although It was tiring. I had fun.

MTCRB Application

It was the fifth day of my internship at ZOE, and I saw Bro. Eddie Villanueva today. Well I know few things about him, He studied in the same university like me and he did run on the 2010 presidential election. I find him a kind-hearted person and intellectual. You can smell his aura.

Today is a busy day for my boss, because she was arranging the MTRCB application forms for the new programs to be aired on the station. And as his personal assistant, I helped her scrutinize the program that is for renewal and for new application. Fortunately we were able to finished the task, and my boss was able to submit them to MTRCB on time.

It was a busy week for me and yet I learned and experience a lot of things that I will treasure forever.

Last Day was the Greatest

Last Day was the greatest day for my OJT because you get to fulfill your dreams as well as experience it. Entering the world of media is a fun and exciting because you get to know the challenges and moments the reporters and news anchors savor to or regret for. But the greatest part is when you achieve what you want to even for just a very short period of time.

Goodbyes were just so hard the moment you recall the days in which you put a lot of effort into your work as a trainee. The advices you get to received each day reminds you of learning, which adds to your list of Do’s and Dont’s. But the sweetest of them all is when your bosses applause you for your great work.

Truly this OJT is one of a lifetime experience and I will treasure it forever.

OPLAN MM

It’s a very tiring yet an enjoyable Sunday for me because I was able to join the DZMM Oplan MM. A Medical, Dental and Optical Mission spearheaded by the No.1 AM Station in Mega Manila with partners such as the Filipino-Chinese Charity Clinic and the Local Government of Mandaluyong.

There, we assisted our boss, Mr. Zaldy Naguit by collecting the DZMM forms filled up by the clients and arranged them according to their specifications. We ended up the medical mission with eating a lot, because it was indeed a tiring day. Haha
